Q: What you need to know when buying tiles
A:
The number of tiles you need depending on the size of the area to be tiled.
Buy around 15% of extra tiles if you want to achieve a complex pattern and cutting. This can also spare for future repairs/replacements.
Keep plenty of spare tiles for future replacement is vital as the chances to get the same tile in the future is very low.
Choose a slip–resistant tile when tiling for a ‘wet area’.
Choose tiles with a high abrasion index when tiling in high traffic areas.
Check tiles for faults and shading on the surface before laying.
Check that all boxes of tiles are from the same batch number. Different batches can result different shades or colours.

Q: What wall linings in tiled and wet areas?
A:
It is now required by law to use aqua-gib lining in wet rooms. We recommend our clients to line the walls in bathrooms and tiled shower areas with 9 mm Hardy board, which is a hard compressed, very strong water resistant material. This is for a long lasting solution.
Stronger lining if required if the walls are to be tiled with large and heavy tiles

A:

We will provide a Producer Statement for all wet areas after the job is completed.

Q: Can tiles be installed on timber floor?
A:
Tiles may crack when installed directly on to timber surfaces.
The timber floor needs to be strengthened prior to tile installation.
Plenty of nails should be used for installing Tile and Slate Underlay before the tiles are installed with a flexible adhesive.
A special primer is also available for timber floor preparation, which can be applied to small timber floors before tiling.
An 18 mm cement sheet and Waterproof application over timber floor is required if a tiled shower floor is to be installed on timber..
